Most video poker games are standing on five-card draw poker. From Jacks or Better to Double Double Bonus Poker to Deuces Wild, players begin with five cards, choose which to hold and which to throw away, then draw replacements.

Pick 'Em Poker is an exemption, with roots in five-card stud poker. That leaves fewer options, a narrower variety of possible outcomes and easier strategies. With expert strategy, the long-run return on the full-pay version is 99.95 percent, making it one of the best-paying games approximately.

Upon making a bet, the player sees four cards. Two of them be in the right place to the player and will be part of the final five-card hand. The other two can be seen as the top cards in two three-card stacks. The player chooses one of those cards, and the other cards in that stack then are turned face up to absolute a five-card hand.
